Sometimes Less Is Not More

I have been in the search for the perfect cardigan for quite some time now. A cardigan is a wardrobe style, so it definitely validates itself as an investment piece. Yet, I just can not bring myself to spend $100 plus on a sweater. I prefer the thin soft knits, so inevitability it will snag. And with my luck, the more I spend the sooner it will happen.

So while browsing Nordstrom Rack I came across a so-so cardigan for $10. For that price, I really wouldn't care all too much if it got a small hole in it. I wouldn't feel like I threw away my paycheck. I was not in love with this cardigan, but it was okay. I carried it around with me for a while because I still wasn't sure. My New Years resolution was to buy things that I loved not because they are so cheap. Any experienced bargain hunter has fallen into this trap a few times. It doesn't matter if something is $1, if you never wear it or don't like it all that much, it is a wasted dollar.

So, I put the cardigan down and walked out of the store empty handed. Sometimes its wiser to spend a little more for something you will enjoy more.
